The estimated number of undernourished people increased from 777 million in 2015 to 815 million in 2016, according to the report titled "The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World".
The prevalence of hunger in the global population rose from 10.6 percent in 2015 to 11 percent in 2016.

BERLIN， Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- Germany is asking its citizens for the first time after the Cold War to stockpile enough food and water for ten days as a precaution against possible terrorist attacks.
The request， included in a recently published government paper titled "Concept for Civil Defense，" came after a series of deadly attacks that were believed to have links with extremist groups struck the country.
"The population will be obliged to hold an individual supply of food for ten days，" the paper said， adding a supply of water for five days is also a good idea.
The 69-page report did not foresee a foreign invasion， but warned that "a development that could threaten our existence cannot be ruled out in the future."
The German public is responding actively to the government's call， with many supermarkets emptied of their food supply.

VIENTIANE， Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- People to people exchange has become a bright spot in and an important part of the friendly cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China， said Korn Dabbaransi， former deputy prime minister of Thailand and chairman of the Thailand-China Friendship Association.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the China-ASEAN dialogue relations and the two sides are preparing to hold a commemorative summit during the 28th and 29th ASEAN summits to be held here from Sept. 6 to 8.
In a recent written interview with Xinhua， the former deputy prime minister said ASEAN members and China have differences in governance， development level and religion， among others， but these differences have never become problems or impediments in boosting people to people exchange and developing mutually beneficial economic and trade ties between the two sides.
China and ASEAN designated 2014 the China-ASEAN cultural exchange year， 2015 the China-ASEAN maritime cooperation year and 2016 the China-ASEAN education cooperation year.
