BUCHAREST Nike Shox TLX Italia , Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The founding leader of Romania's ruling Conservative Party and businessman Dan Voiculescu received on Friday a final 10-year sentence in a major corruption case involving the privatization of a state agricultural institute.
The process of the judgement given by the Bucharest Court of Appeal was a subject of media attention and public concern for six years, and Dan Voiculescu thus became the most influential public figure that has been awarded imprisonment after former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase who is still behind bars.
According to the Romanian National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) that sued Voiculescu, the fraudulent privatization of the Institute of Food Research (ICA) in Bucharest caused the country damages amounting to 60 million euros (78 million U.S. dollars).
The Bucharest Court of Appeals decided on Friday to confiscate the real estate of the TV stations Antena 1 and Antena 3 and of the group of companies Grivco, owned by Voiculescu.
The court also decided to block his accounts to recover the damages he allegedly caused Nike Shox Current Italia , and to seize his house located in an affluent district in northern Bucharest.
Apart from Voiculescu, other 11 people received sentences between three to eight years in the case, among whom five with parole.

The case was opened in 2007, when Voiculescu became the target of anti-corruption investigations for using his influence as a party leader to obtain an advantage in the privatization of ICA.
Prosecutors accused that Voiculescu bought 3.6 hectares of land controlled by the institute at a price much lower than the market price.
Voiculescu denied the charges, claiming the transactions were legal and the investigation was politically motivated, as he is a political enemy of incumbent President Traian Basescu.

Yet, the sentence was appealed against by both Voiculescu who insisted on his innocence and by prosecutors who called for a longer imprisonment.

The party ran in a coalition with Social Democrats in the 2008 legislative elections, and became a minor member of the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
Voiculescu is one of the richest men in Romania, with a fortune estimated at 600-650 million euros (780-845 million dollars).

SEOUL, July 5 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's foreign currency reserves kept a record-breaking momentum for the second consecutive month due to a continued return on foreign currency assets and a higher conversion value of non-U.S. dollar assets, central bank data showed Wednesday.
